Congratulations
to our latest winner,
Robyn Hoelker-Wright!
Robyn is the owner of The Winners Club,
a contest and sweepstakes website. And now she is a member of our Winners Club!
Robyn's entry is the winner of the Computer Books Online Tag-Line Contest.
We really liked her idea about identifying beginner, intermediate, and advanced books.
And her tagline, "The TechKnowledgy Bookshelf".
Robyn chose Building Your Own PC, Ninth Edition, by Arnie Lee for her
prize.
Be sure to check out Robyn's site, The Winners Club, for lots of contests and
sweepstakes to enter!

From Robyn --
I'm the owner of a company called The Winners Club at www.thewinnersclub.
net
I am lucky enough to be able to work from a home office so I can be at home with my 4 year
old son, who is becoming a bit of a computer geek in his own right even!
I am the webmaster along with wearing many other hats at the company. The site was
designed with FrontPage98. I've been doing personal pages for several years now and doing
it all manually and just recently upgraded to FP when I started this site. So my main
interests in computers right now is web site development, all facets.
I have a lot of people asking me about how to design
websites, I always recommend the Dummies series books for this, they are easy to
understand for beginners and still extremely helpful for folks who have been at it a while
even. I especially like HTML4 for Dummies Quick Reference.
The book I selected though is just for me. Thought I would
try my hand and building my own PC this time as my current system is getting to be a bit
of a dinosaur, at least for my needs.
Thanks again for the prize! I'm sure I will enjoy it!
We hope you do, Robyn!

Improvements:
more contests!
Some things seem to be "in the eye of the
beholder"...
More realistic graphics.
Moving cartoon people that speak to and interact with me
More modern graphics- ditch the cartoons!
I like the use of cartoons. Too often these sites are sterile and visually daunting to
people who are new and a little timid about technology. They are comming to you for help,
knowledge, answers, a varity of reasons. Your site with the use of cartoons,
says.."Welcome, You're among friends. Use this. Have one or two toons on each page to
add color, interest and warmth.
I do like bright colors
Colors brighter
More vibrant colors
Warmer colors would be nice.
Keep the fast loading pages
Faster loading pages
Speed! I hate when it takes forever to search for a book
Lose some graphics and speed up the loadtimes
Split the tables into multiple tables for faster loading times.
(actually, speed was probably mentioned more than anything.
We'll work on it)
It's OK!
Nothing really, the site is brill
Don't change it!!
(free books for these people)
I hate white
I hate the blue column on the left.
Well there are [no offense] a lot of things you can improve. Like maybe online-games were
you can play online. You could also have books you can read and download from your
computer. Such as thrillers, mysteries and, bedtime books.
(charge these guys extra)
It would be helpful to me if you could put the price and a short description
Maybe adding a "Subject" field to your "Search By" options?
Top ten list?
Don't write text in blue; the eye can't focus on blue. Don't use green for text unless
it's a hyperlink. Otherwise, it's nice and
clean. (did you say blue?)
A newsletter to send via email to let people know when the site is updated
How about a page with a few computer tips?
The more info you get about a book, the better. When browsing in a real bookstore for
computer books I always flip through them and look at the table of contents and a few
excerpts from different chapters (beginning, middle and end, generally) to get a feel for
the style and the level of information, as well as to find out how far the book takes you
and what it assumes you know. Obviously this is harder online, but online you have the
advantage of a much better selection. So some approximation of this - full table of
contents and a few excerpts as well as a statement of what it assumes you know and where
it takes you.... THAT would be about perfect to me. :) Maybe a lot to ask tho.
More emphasis on used books
