How to Defrag Your Computer
Over a period of time, the data on your hard drive can become scattered and disorganized. Defragging your computer is a process that scans your drives for this scattered data, and puts things back into sequential order again, which has numerous advantages.
When your computer can more easily access data that was previously fragmented, your system will run much more smoothly than before, and your overall performance will improve significantly as well. Defrag » » »
HP Pavilion A6500F Desktop PC
October 28, 2008 by CBO · 5 Comments
2.40 GHz Intel Pentium Dual Core E2220 Processor, 4 GB RAM, 500GB Serial ATA/300 7200 rpm, DVD Drive with LightScribe, Vista Premium, 15-in-1 Memory Card Reader, Optical Mouse
This desktop is the bomb! With a dual-core processor, a 64 bit OS (Vista Premium) and 4g of RAM, it’s the fastest thing I’ve ever owned! It also has a 500g hard drive, DVD with Lightscribe Technology (although that’s not real impressive so far), and a sound card that supports Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound. And I paid a lousy $469 for this monster.
My iPhone - Chapter 11 Configuring iPhone’s Settings and Bonus Tips
August 21, 2008 by CBO · Leave a Comment
IN THIS CHAPTER, you’ll explore the settings not related to specific iPhone functionality. The topics include the following:
- Accessing iPhone settings
- Using Airplane mode
- Monitoring usage
- Configuring general sound settings
- Setting screen brightness
- Setting wallpaper
- Configuring general settings
If you’ve read earlier chapters, such as the chapters on iPod or email functionality, you already have experienced configuring iPhone by using its Settings tool. Many of those settings relate directly to functionality discussed in other chapters. However, a number of iPhone settings are more general in nature, which is where this chapter comes into play.
Some examples of general settings you want to become familiar with include airplane mode (sets iPhone in “silent running” so that you can use iPod and other functions while you fly); sound settings (controls the noises iPhone makes); screen brightness (controls the brightness of the screen); and so on. While you might not use these functions everyday, they come in handy from time to time.

Acer Aspire 5315 and The Jumping Cursor
July 14, 2008 by CBO · 15 Comments
I BOUGHT AN ACER ASPIRE 5315 laptop at a WalMart Black Friday Sale for $347.00. What a great deal! But it was soon driving me insane, with a cursor that jumped, not just around in the text I was typing, but completely out of the window - to open and close programs, selecting blocks of text and deleting them, clicking on links, even shutting the laptop down at times.
I changed some sensitivity settings, but it didn’t help. Everyone said “you must be accidently putting some slight pressure on the keypad while you are typing”. No I wasn’t. I had my hands way up in the air. There wasn’t so much as a breath on the keypad.
I finally wrote to Acer Support. They were great! They wrote back right away and my problem has been solved. If you are having the same problem with your Acer, maybe this will help you. Acer’s Response » » »

JUST HEARD ABOUT this great new tech toy from our friend Rob Sherman. It’s called a Slingbox, and with it, you can watch your home’s cable TV, satellite TV, or DVR programming from any internet-connected TV or cellphone anywhere in the world! Live! You can even change your channels.
Rob says the set up is not for the non-tech-savvy nor the faint-at-heart, but the videos we’ve watched on YouTube say it only takes about 15 minutes. Hey, I want one! TV On Your PC » » »
