HP Pavilion A6500F Desktop PC

2.40 GHz Intel Pentium Dual Core E2220 Processor, 4 GB RAM, 500GB Serial ATA/300 7200 rpm, DVD Drive with LightScribe, Vista Premium, 15-in-1 Memory Card Reader, Optical Mouse
This desktop is the bomb! With a dual-core processor, a 64 bit OS (Vista Premium) and 4g of RAM, it’s the fastest thing I’ve ever owned! It also has a 500g hard drive, DVD with Lightscribe Technology (although that’s not real impressive so far), and a sound card that supports Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound. And I paid a lousy $469 for this monster.

ClickJacking - Is This Link Safe?
October 26, 2008 by CBO · Leave a Comment
Thursday, I attended a virtual security tradeshow, put on by InformationWeek and Dark Reading. Several hacker techniques were discussed by the various speakers. One that was new to me was called ClickJacking.
It seems that you can go to a website and click on a link and nothing seems to happen. That has happened to me before. You just sit there. You click the link again. Nothing. So you click it several times, real fast, like that’s going to make it work.
Blog Clog
Blog clog. It’s not a new phenomenon. We’ve seen it before. Web sites that are nothing much but ad-banner after ad-banner. Rows and rows of ad banners. Affiliate banners. No content, just banners. No useful information, not even a cohesiveness of banner-subject-matter. Just a wasted click-thru from a search engine result. Blog Clog » » »
Affiliate Links and the 16GB USB Flash Drive for $31.69
October 21, 2008 by CBO · Leave a Comment
16GB PD16 USB Flash Drive for $31.69, and the shipping is free! I found a reference to this on a Squidoo lens titled Fun Flash Drives. I have an 8g flash drive that I paid $30 for, and thought it was an excellent bargain. So this is a bargain x2.
Here’s the link to the flash drive. It’s an affiliate link, but it doesn’t belong to me - it belongs to the person who wrote the lens. I don’t know her. She’s a mother of 4 and calls herself “the homeopath”. Funny thing for a homeopath to make a Squidoo lens on. Affiliate Links » » »
Warm Fuzzy Blogging by a Schizophrenic Programmer
Just had a read on a blog by a programmer named Binny. He’s starting a new tradition and I like it. From now on, when he subscribes to a blog, he is writing to the owner and letting them know.
He thinks, and I agree, that it would be a nice thing to do, and would have possible advantages like networking, a possible new reader, world peace (coming from that warm, fuzzy feeling you’d get by receiving an email like this), and … who knows what else, since he just started doing it.
You could send a link to your own blog, and if it is in the same field, it could lead to backlinks or guest blogging opportunities or just a great friendship.
Here is his template, and he says everyone is welcome to use it. So What’s with the Schizophenia? » » »

Seth Godin for $1.00 or Less
October 18, 2008 by CBO · Leave a Comment
As always, Seth Godin has hit another home-run! His new book Tribes tells us how to lead our organizations.
Tribes are everywhere, in companies large and small, and their members are hungry for connection, meaning, and change–in other words, for leadership. For the first time, explains Godin, everyone has an opportunity to lead, not just be bosses. In Tribes, he explains how.
Seth has a Squidoo lens that lists 86 (so far) reader-submitted ways to build Tribes, and they are so right-on! The lens is called Tribe Building Tactics.
Seth says: By tactics, I mean specific things you can do to engage people, to build community and identity, to create connections and participation. Online or offline.
Now his book Tribes is available as an iTunes download for less than a buck, or from Audible for free, other than your name and email address. The links are also available here on Seth’s blog.
I’m downloading my copy now!
If you’d prefer a hard-copy of Tribes, you can get it here.
The Magazine for Website Success
October 17, 2008 by CBO · Leave a Comment
If you run a website, you gotta have Website Magazine. It’s free - if you qualify - and all you have to do to qualify is own a website. It only comes 4 times a year, so it’s not intrusive, but it’s such a great magazine, you’ll wish it came more often.
Here’s just a quick summary of some of my favorite stories in the latest issue -
Should Comparison Shopping Engines be Part of Your PPC Mix? Listing your products with CSEs (like PriceGrabber, Shopping.com, Nextag) can be a very good thing. People who click on your products are looking for a very specific item and are usually looking to buy. Much more targeted than PPC (pay per click).
Understanding Consumer Behavior with Web Analytics Do you know where your customers are coming from? What they are looking for? Do you know if your PPC campaigns are converting to sales? Web Analytics can tell you this and more. And these days Web Analytics are available to even the tiniest company at a price they can afford - free.
Top 50 SEO Firms and Resources Software providers, services, and companies that can help you dominate the SERPs (search engine results pages).
Google Page Rank - Sculpting for SEO Profits To follow or rel=nofollow. Don’t bleed your page rank away.
Six Degrees of Social Computing - Creating Relationships on the Web When it comes to Web 2.0, it’s all about relationships. As a web professional, you want to attract visitors to your site AND encourage them to return again and again. Here’s how to do it.
Top Secret E-Commerce Tactics I can’t tell you about this, it’s top secret.
Get Your Website Included in Google News Google News is one of the top five most visited news portals on the web. IF YOU HAVE A NEWS SITE, this article tells you just what you need to do to get listed.
Some of the other stories:
- Tax Havens for Online Businesses
- Developing Effective Affiliate Policies
- Online Video Fundamentals for E-Commerce
- A Startup’s Guide to Generating Online Ad Revenue
- 5 Effective Wiki Uses
And there are even more. Even the ads in this mag are interesting! I subscribe to a lot of industry mags, and this is definitely one of my favorites.
To get it, you have to fill out a form with your name, address, phone, etc, and answer approximately 10 questions about your organization. LIke “what’s your primary position”, “how long have you been in the internet field”, easy questions like that. No credit card numbers, social security numbers, nothing like that.
